According to the sacred narrative, Quetzalcoatl, Lord of Creation, ruled over the first city built by humans, called Tollan. During His reign, Tollan saw great abundance and joy, but He was deceived by His brother Tezcatlipoca, Lord of Darkness and became impure and unable to rule. He then left for the coast, where He set Himself on fire, and became Venus, the Morning Star, who announces the rise of the Sun. From the flames emerged all the birds of beautiful feathers, a symbol of the preciousness of self-sacrifice and dedication to life according to the teachings of the ancestors.
